Sir Paul McCartney

September 11th, 2009 | 12:37

Can’t believe I have forgotten to post about this.  On my birthday Kathleen took us to see Paul McCartney in Piedmont Park!

It was amazing. We were about 25 feet from the stage. We got rained on for about 20 minutes, and nobody moved. He played for over 2 hours straight.

Unfortunately, we didn’t take our camera because they said they weren’t allowed, but everyone else had one. We took a disposable camera though. Should have those developed soon.

Snowden at the Earl 7/3/09

Went to see Snowden at the Earl a while ago. Finally got the pics up. I didn’t really like their new stuff as much as the last album, but the show was still good.

An old friend from college’s band was one of the openers, The Sea Lions. They were really good.

Venice is Sinking at the High

James’ band Venice is Sinking played at Kathleen’s event she organized at the Woodruff Arts Center on Thursday. They were good as usual. My parents came out because they liked them from our wedding so much.

Also, Brent brought an old friend of ours who was a foreign exchange student from Sweden when we were in high school. It was really great to see Johan again. He’s really a very nice guy, and just fun to hang out with.

I got the image from this guy’s site who was at a lot of the shows taking pictures:

St. Vincent

June 29th, 2009 | 10:37

On Sunday (6/14), Kathleen and I went to the Earl to see St. Vincent. It was great, because we had been exhausted from biking around town all day and kickball practice, and we got there right as she was about to go on, which was early for a headline at the Earl.  She had requested it to be a non-smoking event, which is awesome since you usually can’t go to the Earl without coming home wreaking of smoke.

She was really good again. This album seems to be a lot heavier than the last though.

Mahler’s Symphony No 6

April 28th, 2009 | 20:54

Last Thursday (4/23) Kathleen and I went to see the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra perform Mahler’s Sixth Symphony with her boss and her boss’s husband. Donald Runnicles was the conductor. He’s the Chief Conductor of the BBC Scottish Orchestra, so that’s pretty cool.

I really enjoyed it, and will have to start taking advantage of Kathleen’s job to go see more shows by the ASO.

Her boss treated us to dinner at Atmosphere beforehand. Which was awesome of them. And the food there was really good.
