The Glands / Georgia Theatre Re-Opens

August 2nd, 2011 | 09:50

Went to the first show at the newly rebuilt Georgia Theatre in Athens on Monday night to see The Glands, and Madeline opened.

It was a great show. The Glands haven’t played a show in forever. Kathleen and I had seen them play a long time ago at the now closed Echo Lounge in East Atlanta.

Brent was supposed to go with us, but bailed at the last minute. Oh well. We had fun, but late nights and week days don’t go over as easy as they used to.

William Gibson book tour

September 17th, 2010 | 22:14

William Gibson, one of my favorite authors, recently came to Atlanta on a book tour for his latest book Zero History. I ended up getting two books signed, because they said you had to buy the book there, so I had that one, plus the one I had already bought and brought with me. Oh well.

Gibson’s work has been a big part of developing my enthusiasm in reading over last few years. I hadn’t been much of a reader as I was never introduced or made to read anything of any interest in high school or college.  Kathleen and I decided to start a book club in late 2007, and since I have read every Gibson novel to date, except for this newest addition, Zero History (it’s in the queue), and dozens and dozens of other books.

Atlanta Street Food!

Hector, from Pura Vida and Top Chef, has started setting up a burrito stand under a tent in the lot across from Pura Vida on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Kathleen and I finally made it by for a try on Sunday. Yum…

Beach Trip 2010

June 3rd, 2010 | 21:16

We took a much needed vacation a few weeks ago. We stayed in Navarre Beach, FL… for free!
Here was our awesome view, some sting rays that were just swimming all around, and the beach
