This kid was on Conan O’brian last night playing some Eric Clapton songs… and it wasn’t on Guitar Hero…

Yuto Miyazawa

He was freakin incredible. And he’s only 8!

Why oh why couldn’t my parents have put a guitar in my hands when I was 3?

Here he is on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qizRvpYHmrw&feature=related

If you didn’t watch the Oscars last night, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova won for Best Song.

If you haven’t seen Once, you should.

Also, Diablo Cody won for Best Original Screenplay for Juno. So it was actually a pretty good Oscars night, I’m usually upset about a lot of the awards.

Netflix! (and movie night)

So I called up comcast today to scale down some of my cable, then I realize I’m paying about $17 extra per month for basically one channel. So I got rid of everything except basic cable and HD, and I subscribed to netflix. Which means I will be watching lots of movies now, and having a weekly movie night. I’m not sure what night I’m going to do it on yet, but if you’re interested in coming, leave a suggestion.

Also, Kathleen and I finally watched Amelie the other night. We may be two of the last people to see it… We both liked it of course. However, last night we went with Liz and Matthew to a free screening of Penelope, which wasn’t quite as good.

Then we watched the eclipse. I took a couple pictures, but I don’t think they’re going to come out. I’ll post em if they do.

My hometown and reality shows…

A friend of mine from high school is about to be on “Are you smarter than a 5th grader.” That’s so crazy. Just a few months ago, a girl I had Spanish with in high school was the last contestant on “The Bachelor.” Who knows, maybe I’ll be next

**UPDATE**

Now I found out that girl is going to be the next “Bachelorette”… oh, and Travis won $100,000…

Interesting fact

January 23rd, 2008 | 10:00

In 1969, at a hospital in South Carolina, all of its black nurses went on strike in hopes of receiving equal pay and treatment as the white nurses. Many people (who now, you may know from street names here in Atlanta), including Andrew Young, Coretta Scott King, and Ralph Abernathy, went to SC to assist in the movement. Andrew Young met with the only person in the hospital that would talk with him, and resolved an end to the strike. And that person was the new vice president at the medical college, appointed just days before the strike took place, and who was father to a boy who would become the greatest American alive, Stephen Colbert. And now you know… the rest of the story (sorry, I couldn’t help it).

I just found this to be really interesting, and upon looking up facts about Colbert, I found out another strangely interesting detail. Stephen Colbert’s father and two of his brothers died in a plane crash… on September 11th, 1974… very strange…
