St. Vincent

June 29th, 2009 | 10:37

On Sunday (6/14), Kathleen and I went to the Earl to see St. Vincent. It was great, because we had been exhausted from biking around town all day and kickball practice, and we got there right as she was about to go on, which was early for a headline at the Earl.  She had requested it to be a non-smoking event, which is awesome since you usually can’t go to the Earl without coming home wreaking of smoke.

She was really good again. This album seems to be a lot heavier than the last though.

Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris

May 2nd, 2009 | 17:17

On Wednesday, Kathleen and I went to see the Alliance Theatre put on the play “Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris”

It was a musical, but felt more modern than most musicals I’ve seen. It was humourus, but also sad at times. I liked it quite a bit.

It was only four people in the show, and they had a jazz band on stage through the whole show providing the music.

Mahler’s Symphony No 6

April 28th, 2009 | 20:54

Last Thursday (4/23) Kathleen and I went to see the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra perform Mahler’s Sixth Symphony with her boss and her boss’s husband. Donald Runnicles was the conductor. He’s the Chief Conductor of the BBC Scottish Orchestra, so that’s pretty cool.

I really enjoyed it, and will have to start taking advantage of Kathleen’s job to go see more shows by the ASO.

Her boss treated us to dinner at Atmosphere beforehand. Which was awesome of them. And the food there was really good.

Class of 3000 – Live

March 8th, 2009 | 12:12

Kathleen’s boss gave us tickets to see the opening night of Class of 3000 at the Alliance Theatre. If you didn’t know, it’s a stage adaptation of the cartoon. It was actually pretty good.

It was created by Andre 3000, so he was there, and we also spotted Big Boi.

Artsy Weekend

June 10th, 2008 | 22:22

Kathleen and I went to ICE Atlanta on Saturday in Centennial Olympic Park. Then we went to the new Young Blood art gallery and boutique across the street from my apartment while we were on a waiting list for dinner. Pretty much everybody that was at ICE also had stuff in Young Blood… I wish we new that before we spent an hour in the hot hot afternoon looking at all the same stuff. Then on Sunday we rode our bikes down to the Virginia Highlands Summer Festival. It was really crowded:
