The Manchester Orchestra

April 4th, 2008 | 12:51

Kathleen, Liz, and I went to see the Manchester Orchestra play at the Masquerade last night. Liz and I have been working on a website for them and Kathleen has been doing all the writing for the site,  so they had us on the guest list.

The site should be live soon. I’ll post a link to it when it’s officially launched.

Stephen Malkmus

March 28th, 2008 | 15:50

Kathleen and I went to see Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks on Wednesday night. Even though I was extremely tired, we had a good time. We had ridden our bikes to dinner at Across The Street, and my bike tire’s went flat on the way back, so that sucked. And then the ATM broke in Little 5. Oh well…

It was great to finally see someone who’ve I’ve liked for so long, although they didn’t play any Pavement songs. They actually played mostly stuff off the new album, so I didn’t really know a lot of it. But it was still good.

Downtown Tornado

March 15th, 2008 | 01:01

There was a really bad tornado tonight in downtown Atlanta.  The building across the street from where kathleen works was shown on tv, and it was all torn apart. We haven’t seen her building yet.

Debris at the CNN Center

On a very sad note, it looks like the Cotton Mill Lofts have been completely demolished. The floors just collapsed one on top of the other. Less than a year ago, when I was looking for a new place to live, I was very close to picking the Cotton Mill Lofts. I just hope everyone made it out ok.

Young Christopher

February 27th, 2008 | 23:56

It has recently come to my attention that an old video featuring a young Christopher Covington has been uploaded to youtube.com. Before the rumors start to fly, I thought I’d set the record straight, right here, at christophercovington.com.

It was the Spring of two thousand and three. I had recently moved away from home and was living in the city of Atlanta. One day, there was something going on near the student center at GSU. It was a music video maker thing, and it was outside, right in the open for everybody to watch… My good friend Jonathan of course wanted to make one of these free music videos. No one else would do it with him. So I stepped up… They had lots of costumes, and, well, not a great selection of songs to choose from… And, without further ado… I bring you: Chris Covington and Jonathan Williams performing Bone Thugs and Harmony’s Crossroads:

The crowd seemed pleased…

Netflix! (and movie night)

February 21st, 2008 | 14:50

So I called up comcast today to scale down some of my cable, then I realize I’m paying about $17 extra per month for basically one channel. So I got rid of everything except basic cable and HD, and I subscribed to netflix. Which means I will be watching lots of movies now, and having a weekly movie night. I’m not sure what night I’m going to do it on yet, but if you’re interested in coming, leave a suggestion.

Also, Kathleen and I finally watched Amelie the other night. We may be two of the last people to see it… We both liked it of course. However, last night we went with Liz and Matthew to a free screening of Penelope, which wasn’t quite as good.

Then we watched the eclipse. I took a couple pictures, but I don’t think they’re going to come out. I’ll post em if they do.
